Curettage
from 349 PLN

Curettage is a traditional method of cleaning periodontal pockets and belongs to periodontics. This dental procedure is effective in combating gingivitis and serious periodontal diseases, such as, for example, periodontitis – then curettage sometimes turns out to be a remedy for tooth loss.

Performing curettage effectively prevents the build-up of tartar and works well for people in whom scaling or sandblasting did not bring the desired results. It is typical of the tooth pockets to enlarge and large amounts of tartar to be deposited.

Why is it worth choosing curettage?

This method of treatment is designed to shallow the tooth pocket and eliminate inflammatory triggers, such as tartar or stubborn food debris. In addition, this type of investment in health helps improve tooth stability and prevents gums from bleeding. Thanks to curettage, eating meals is again associated only with pleasure, not pain.

Remember that excessive tartar build-up causes not only hypersensitivity to cold and sweet foods, but also gum swelling, tooth decay, halitosis (unpleasant smell from the mouth), and even bone loss.

Course of curettage

During the procedure, the dentist cleans the tooth root and removes any clusters of bacteria. Curettage is performed using a special tool called a curette. We provide several types of curettage, and the one that turns out to be appropriate in a given case depends on the depth of the gingival pocket. The entire procedure takes no more than 60 minutes.

Open curettage

During the procedure, the doctor cuts and moves the gum tissue aside to gain access to the root of the tooth and the bone surrounding it. The treatment is recommended if the size of the pockets exceeds 5 millimeters.

If the pockets are deep, the doctor must cut the gum to clean the root thoroughly of tartar. After the procedure, the dentist rinses the wound and sutures the gum.

Closed curettage

There is no need to cut the gum here. The procedure is performed when the size of the gingival pockets is a maximum of 5 millimeters. During this non-invasive procedure, the doctor thoroughly cleans the root, gum walls and pockets.

Laser curettage

It is performed as a supplement to a classic treatment or as a separate service. In this case, limescale is removed using a light emitting diode.

  • The procedure is mild, thanks to the use of local anesthesia
  • Post-treatment care – the doctor will provide information that will help speed up the regeneration of the gums
  • Permanent Effects
