When to visit the dental implantologist?

If you have deficiencies in your natural dentition, you should visit an implantologist. Remember that the lack of even one tooth can cause loosening, tilting and displacement of the teeth adjacent to the gap. The opposing teeth may lean out, the alveolar bone atrophy in the place of the lost tooth, and gingival recessions in the adjacent teeth, difficult eating, articulation disorders, and an increased risk of caries and malocclusion. In addition, deficiencies in natural dentition negatively affect the aesthetics of a smile, they can cause complexes and low self-esteem and loss of self-confidence.

    What are Dental Implants?

A dental (dental) implant is a small titanium screw that replaces the tooth root and supports the tooth crown. An implanted implant – a new tooth – fits perfectly into the dentition. It is a durable and comfortable solution that our patients can use under the supervision of our experienced team of implantologists, surgeons and prosthetists.

    Are Dental Implants Permanent?

Yes, it is currently the most durable, functional and exceptionally aesthetic way of supplementing missing teeth. The implant implanted in the bone perfectly replaces the natural tooth and retains all its properties even for several dozen years.

How to prepare for the visit?

Think about the results you want to achieve and the questions to ask your doctor. During the interview, our doctor will be able to answer them. You can also show him photos of smiles of people you know that are close to the effect you want to achieve.

Prepare information about your current health condition. In order for the treatment to proceed in the shortest possible time, we will perform diagnostic tests. On their basis, the doctor will prepare your individual treatment plan. The tests necessary to plan the conditions of implant placement and the selection of their ideal size are a 3D scan of the dentition, a panoramic radiograph with cephalometry, CBCT computed tomography.

How is the treatment process going?

    Consultation
During the first visit, we will assign you an individual Caregiver who will take care of the comfortable course of your treatment. The first stage of the visit is an interview with a doctor who will listen to your expectations and conduct a detailed interview with you, as well as perform an initial dental examination and diagnostic tests. At this stage, you will also receive a treatment schedule and cost estimate.

    Preparatory treatments
In some patients, it is necessary to perform preparatory treatments before implant treatment. Treatment may involve, for example, an elevation of the bottom of the maxillary sinus (e.g., when there is too little bone tissue for implantation in the maxilla as a result of a low-descending maxillary sinus) or restoration of atrophied bone tissue. It depends on the individual conditions of the oral cavity.

    Implant placement
You will be implanted with an implant during the safe procedure. Depending on the planned number of them, the treatment may last from 30 to 60 minutes. After the procedure, you will receive a temporary tooth crown, which is why you will leave the missing tooth right after the implantation procedure. Then you can start enjoying your new smile. Follow your doctor’s oral care recommendations and make an appointment for a checkup.

    Prosthetic works
The next stage is the prosthetic part. Permanent aesthetic prosthetic crowns will be attached during the planned visit, and you will enjoy a beautiful, full and free smile for many years.

How is the All-on-4 treatment performed?

All elements of diagnostics and treatment are the same as in the case of supplementing the teeth with one or more dental implants. The main difference is that on the day of the procedure, the implantologist places 4 implants in precisely selected places in the maxilla and/or the mandible on the basis of research. A permanent bridge with full dentition is attached to these implants on the day of the procedure. Treatments in our clinic can also be performed by the outstanding Portuguese implantologist Paulo Malo, who patented and popularized the innovative Allon-4 method around the world.

Consequences of the lack of treatment of missing teeth?

Bone atrophy of the mandible or maxilla – to slow down this irreversible process, implant the implant in the place where the tooth was left as soon as possible

Loosening and dying of teeth – caused by excessive abrasion, crushing and overloading of adjacent teeth

Headache and neck pain – caused by overloading the temporomandibular joint

Moving and tilting the remaining teeth – this way compensates for the lack of an adjacent tooth

There is often a loss of a healthy tooth adjacent to a missing tooth or difficulties in fitting the crown – it is caused by the tooth opposite, the missing tooth protruding from the bone (in the opposite arch)

Gingivitis and periodontitis occur with overloads caused by transferring excessive chewing forces to a smaller number of teeth

Difficult to eat properly, indigestion, reflux – especially felt in the absence of a molar or premolar, which has a large chewing surface and helps to grind the food

Difficulty speaking, slurred speech, change in facial contours – teeth, especially the front teeth, are involved in correct articulation

Problems in interpersonal contacts caused by the poorly aesthetic appearance of the teeth and visible missing teeth, which make it impossible to smile normally
